Home News Press Releases Porcine Cysticercosis

With a worldwide spread, Porcine cysticercosis (PC) is a parasitic zoonosis cause by infestation with the cestode Taenia solium, for which the pig is an intermediate host while man is the final host.

Pigs usually contract PC through eating infected food or roaming in areas contaminated with human faeces (such as sewage water). Humans contract the disease by eating improperly cooked pork.
