Home News General Policy makers and key stakeholders from three countries discuss opportunities to improve delivery of livestock health products and services in India, Bangladesh and Nepal
Stakeholders and policy makers from veterinary, private and third sectors discussed the challenges and opportunities for effective delivery of livestock health products and services in India, Bangladesh and Nepal and developed actions that could lead to improved delivery. The event, hosted by GALVmed, was attended by 29 participants during the 3rd and 4th September in New Delhi, India.

The meeting was held after a GALVmed-commissioned study reported on the role of individuals, companies and NGOs to provide livestock health products and services in India and Nepal. Consultations on the report were held during the event with attendees providing feedback and validation of the report’s findings. The study covered Bangladesh, Nepal and six states in India (Orissa, Bihar, West Bengal, Assam, Nagaland and Jharkhand).

Participants also produced an action plan to improve delivery of livestock health products and services in India, Bangladesh and Nepal. A prioritised list of areas was also created to pinpoint needs for new or amended legal and administrative procedures that could improve delivery.

Attendees agreed to follow-up on resolutions made. GALVmed announced that it would follow up with participants after the meeting.

GALVmed held a related meeting in Kenya  from the 12th to 13th June to discuss the GALVmed-commissioned reports and similar issues affecting Africa.

The final GALVmed-commissioned reports and workshop findings and report are currently under final review and will be published at a later date in our Document Repository  and made available to all meeting attendees.
