The World Organisation for Animal Health has published a new document about ”Public-Private Partnerships and perspectives in the veterinary domain”.
The OIE Panorama listed LastMile, an initiative supported by GALVmed, as a success story about public-private partnerships in the industry. The LastMile Initiative is a collaborative PPP between Veterinary Services and the private sector in several countries, to facilitate the access to quality animal healthcare solutions for smallholder farmers in sub-Saharan Africa. According to the OIE PPP Handbook, a Public-Private Partnership is a joint approach in which the public and private sectors agree responsibilities and share resources and risks to achieve common objectives that deliver benefits in a sustainable manner.
The OIE website also offers an introductory e-learning course to learn more about what can be obtained from PPPs in the veterinary domain worldwide.
