We are once again delighted to welcome a new staff member to the GALVmed team!
Julius Singoma has joined us as our Policy and External Affairs Manager and will be supporting our Policy & External Affairs department in promoting advocacy and policy work. He will be based in our Nairobi office.
Julius previously worked at the African Union Commission in the Department of Rural Economy and Agriculture and prior to that, he worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uganda.
“Coming from Africa’s premier institution, the African Union, I have seen first-hand, GALVmed work with and support of African institutions like the Pan African Veterinary Vaccine Centre (PANVAC) where it upgraded laboratories for vaccine quality assurances, the Inter-African Bureau for Animal Resources (AU-IBAR) where it supported the advancement of livestock health, trade and development and the AU- Centre for Ticks and Tick-Bone Diseases where it supported its revival and reoriention towards a sustainable path,” said Julius. “This experience has been truly inspiring and attracted me to GALVmed.
“It is, therefore, exhilarating for me to join GALVmed. Becoming GALVmed’s Policy and External Affairs Manager is an exciting chance to bring my extensive diplomatic and policy development experience to GALVmed’s dedicated effort of uplifting the lives and livelihoods of livestock dependent households, communities and nations in the developing world. I am coming in at an opportune time when the African Union is rolling out the Livestock Development Strategy it adopted last year to elevate the profile of livestock in food and nutrition, trade and socio-economic development I look forward to building on what I have been doing at an inter-governmental level and taking it to a more concrete level through public-private partnership.”
