Awareness

Building global awareness of the crucial role that animal health plays in creating economic stability and quality nutrition for the world’s poorest rural populations is key to overcoming this challenge.According to the World Bank, despite the increased commitment by donor countries to assist the developing world, only 4 percent of international aid is directed to agricultural needs in developing countries. Access to affordable and genuine animal health medicines has been limited for more than 30 years.

  • In isolated areas, poor farmers have limited access to vaccines and medicines because they are often expensive and difficult to administer.
  • More than 50 percent of the capital invested in agriculture in Africa is in the form of livestock.
