East Coast Fever Vaccine Launch, Arusha Tanzania

The East Coast fever Infection and Treatment Method vaccine (ECF-ITM) launch was organised by AU-IBAR, PANVAC, the Government of Tanzania, Dr Lieve Lynen and GALVmed as a platform to bring together key stakeholders in the manufacture, delivery and adoption of the ECF-ITM vaccine for the purpose of officially launching the vaccine in Tanzania. This was the first in a series of events. The launch drew participation from a wide spectrum of stakeholders including livestock ministers from Tanzania and Uganda, senior government officials, research institutions, ECF-ITM vaccine distributors, farmer groups, Maasai cattle owners and media organisations. The occasion was also a vehicle for creating public awareness of the availability of the control using ECF-ITM and highlighting the importance of controlling East Coast Fever (ECF) not only in Tanzania but the region as whole.
